My Story
Well Hello there! I'm Any (pronounced "Annie") and I'm so glad you're here!
A little bit about myself: I was born in Colombia, South America and came to Texas when I was 2! I knew by the time I was 3 that I would be some form of Creative; just had nooo idea how long it would take or the detours that my life would take. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art but leaned more towards Graphic Design. When I lost a job as a junior Art Director, (in my 20's) I decided to go back to school and get a degree in Dental Hygiene, of all things! (It paid the bills a lot easier!) Little did I know that after 15 years of reading x-rays, my awareness and ability to see detail would heighten. I also realized that I loved educating people about their teeth. These two things would later become foundational in my present situation. In 1999, I voluntarily did a mural for my church's children's area and soon began to get private commissions in private homes and offices to do murals and decorative painting. My dream of owning my own business was born in 2001! It launched my career as a Muralist and decorative painter. By 2005 I was just focusing on commercial jobs with churches being my primary clients. I met the man of my dreams (Phil- my "Canadian Bacon")
and we began designing and manufacturing large projects together. His expertise is Indoor Playgrounds. In 2013, we got married and together we have 5 adult children!
In 2017, I met the former owners of The Wild Nest Art Studio just as they were getting ready to close their business. The Lord Himself orchestrated that one and prompted me to ask if they would be willing to sell the business. They were more than happy to negotiate and after 3 short months, Phil and I decided to buy the "Nest." We literally went from an "empty" nest to a "wild one!"
Over the last 5 years I've had such an amazing experience owning and operating this studio. It has truly been a dream come true. I have learned so much about people, teaching, connecting, and empowering others in their creative journey and I've realized that my "super power" is deconstructing projects into processes that will enable the ability for anyone to create beautiful things as they "trust that process." At the end of a class, I love to hear people say: "I can't believe I made that!"
My "muraling" days may be in the rear-view mirror, but my studio days have just begun in a smaller more intimate setting! I hope that our paths will cross whether online or in person and we can create something beautiful together!!
